Legal Observer Training

We will be holding a legal observer training this month on Saturday, August 25th at 10am at the Left Coast Forum. The training will be taught by longtime legal observer and leading expert on activist mass defense Dr. Jill Humphries. The training will cover the basics of legal observing, and will get you trained to join NLG-LA's team of observers.

The PPC plans to have large-scale rallies at state capitols on six consecutive Mondays in May and June (May 14th, May 21st, May 28th, June 4th, June 11, June 18th). NLG-LA and our sister chapters around the state have been asked to provide legal support and legal observers. Please join us to get trained on legal observing and learn more about this historic campaign.

The CLE will examine three recent civil rights cases making systemic change in low-income housing, police misconduct, and sweeping gang injunctions. It will also cover using the Public Records Act to build discovery and attorney fees in civil rights cases.
