"The Lawyers Guild Show" features a discussion on the mass arrests this
week of Iranian nationals in this country who attempted to comply with
a Homeland Security Act requirement that men for various Muslim countries,
16-years old, or older, re-register with the INS. Over 7,000 people demonstrated
yesterday at the Westwood Federal Building to protest the arrests and detentions.
Jim's guests include: Hossein Hey Jazi, Program Director of KIRN, 670 AM--the
station that promoted the protest action; Sherri Khorran, an Iranian paralegal
working with Iranian immigrants; Hamid Khan, Executive Director of the
South Asian Network; Sarah Rath, one of the women conducting a fast for

the father of the gay rights movement, who died in October at the age of
90. The discussion will track the developments in the gay rights movement
over the past 50 years and look at up-coming court challenges to remaining
anti-gay laws. Guests include Jenny Pizer, Legal Director of the LAMBDA
Legal Defense Fund; Stuart Timmons, a journalist who wrote a biography
on Harry Hay; and Preston Wood, a political activist who, like Hay, is

"The Lawyers Guild Show" features two important and timely interviews.
First, Jim Lafferty will interview Attorney Lynne Stewart, personally indicted
by Attorney General John Ashcroft for allegedly aiding terrorists while
representing her client, Sheik Omar Rahman. The government acknowledges
that part of the alleged evidence against her was obtained by secretly
taping her confidential conversations with her client in jail. The second
interview will be with Prof. Marwan Dalal, from the Legal Center for Arab
Minority Rights in Israel, concerning his charges that Israeli Arabs are
living as second class citizens in what amounts to an Apartheid state.

attack and who want it known that their sorrow is not a call for vengence.

"The Lawyers Guild Show", will not be heard. In its place, Ron Wilkins,
a former and fired programmer at KPFK, will be given the hour to reach
out to many in the African-American community who have felt estranged from
KPFK for some years now. Ron Wilkins had asked the Lawyers Guild
if he could have our hour tonight and we and the new, interim station manager,
readily agreed.
We have no idea what Ron and his guests will talk about, nor did we ask
him. After all, that would be inconsistent with the very notion of "free
speech radio." The Lawyers Guild Show will be back on the air next Thursday
at it regular time, 7:00 p.m.
